A few years ago when I first started learning how to design websites with HTML, this site provided me with the some of the finest tutorials that existed on the web. So, go give it a try and see how much you will add to your ability to design or modify your Joomla sites once you understand a bit more of HTML.
- Easy Web Tutorials
This is a set of excellent tutorials that cover pretty much all you would need to know to be a comfortable web designer. Guido W. Stiehle, the creator of the tutorials, publishes them in both text and video format. So, read the page and then watch the videos or vice versa.

Now that you are comfortable with working with HTML, here are some CSS Tutorials and Resources to help you advance a bit further. - W3Schools Online Web Tutorials
This is by far one of the most comprehensive and interactive CSS tutorials. A very big plus is the inclusion of 150 interactive examples.
You will both be able to learn CSS from a beginner's level all the way to Advanced from this one resource alone. After each lesson, you can practice your CSS skills online, with a live HTML editor that enables you to view the result of your CSS work right away.
- More tutorials and resources are on the way
Please, take care to put your CSS skills (once you have them) into action by actually trying them out or even designing a live site. Yet still, you can even try editing a Joomla template and playing around with the CSS files and codings. Just make sure you are not editing the default template's CSS files untill you become more comfortable working with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Exercise your creative freedom when designing your websites.
