You can create Joomla websites in 7 easy steps.
Without wasting your time, here’s how to do this.
- Install Joomla: All you need to do is to download the Joomla Installation package, and upload and install it on your website. You can do this either manually or semi-automated. But either one will work out fine. I will show you how to do this later on.
- Setup Joomla SEF URLs: The next step you may want to take to create your Joomla website is to go to the “Global Configurations” area of your Joomla backend, click on the “Site” tab and setup search engine friendly URLs. (Note that you will have to setup .htaccess on your site first). You can also setup your websites META data, including the keywords, description and other Joomla SEO details that will help you rank higher in Google and others, and appear when the right keyword is queried in the search engines. If your Joomla SEO system is properly setup, you have a better chance of getting more targeted website traffic to your pages.
- Organize and Create Content: The Joomla CMS (content management system) has a beautifully-crafted content hierarchy that lets you create and organize your content (videos, audios, text, etc) into sections, categories and pages. Your Joomla web design and development will become much easier if you learn to organize your site’s content this way. This also makes it very user friendly as your site visitors can navigate from one content category and page to the other. Believe me when I say that it makes easier for both you and your site visitors and keeps them coming. Don’t believe me? Try organizing your content that way!

- Customize Joomla: Once you site is up and running, you may want to modify it a little bit so that it does not look like any other site, but has a ‘unique personality’ of its own. This may include creating and customizing your Joomla menus and optimizing them, adding interactive tools and features to your website, like polls, tell-a-friend scripts, etc.
- Install and Modify Joomla Templates: A fresh Joomla installation comes with one or two free Joomla templates. You can however, choose buy commercial Joomla templates (which usually come with more features and customization options) and install them on your Joomla website. You can then go the “Template Manager” area of your backend and modify the templates until you are satisfied. You can use the inbuilt template modifier or play with the HTML, CSS or PHP codes to your heart’s satisfaction. Just make sure you know what you are doing and don’t damage your website in the process.
