1. Enable .htaccess: Go to your Joomla website hosting account’s ‘Control Panel’ area and login. Once you are in, find and click on the “File Manager” (from where you can access your website’s files). There should be a ‘htaccess.txt’ file in there. Rename the file to ‘.htaccess’ (without the quotes). So far so good, eh?
2. Login to Your Joomla Admin Area: Go to the ‘/administrator’ directory of your Joomla installation and login. Aint that simple? J
3. Global Configurations: When you are logged in to the admin area, locate and click on the “Global Configurations” link. This is where some of the most important features and options for your Joomla SEO lie. But for now, we will just focus on helping you to setup Joomla SEF URLS. So, just click on the “Site” tab. Don’t tamper with the other two for now.
4. SEO Settings: There’s an “SEO Settings” section here that you should see. Now, go ahead and check ‘yes’ for both the “Search Engine Friendly URLS” and “Use Apache mod-write” options.
5. Click the Save Button on the top right of the page.
