Learn How to Design and Manage Joomla Websites

There are many ways to customize Joomla and make it look and feel the way you want it to. I won’t go into all the different means of modifying your Joomla website to achieve this, but here are 3 of the most effective and productive ways of doing this.

These include:

1. Joomla SEF: You can easily setup Joomla SEF (search engine friendly) URLs. Such a URL will now look like mywebsite.com/cool-dudes/uncle-tom-in-da-hood as against the default Joomla URLs that are combinations of a bunch of codes, numbers, alphabets and special characters that even Einstein can’t comprehend and no human eye wants to see or read.
   
   On the other hand, having a search engine friendly URL will help you rank highly in the search engines (like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc), get more targeted traffic to your website and boost your overall Joomla SEO efforts. With all these benefits, I don’t see any reason you should make your URLs friendly-to both human visitors and search engine robots.

Joomla Content Management Customization: The Joomla CMS is setup in a way that you can arrange your content (videos, pictures, text, PDF, documents, etc) on your Joomla website under a content hierarchy system of sections (broadest categories), categories (sub-sections) and content items/articles (that contain the actual web page content). You can take advantage of this by creating and customizing your own content sections, categories and web pages based on your site’s needs. This makes your Joomla website easier to navigate for your visitors as well as pump your SEO and boost your search engine rankings, if you do it properly.
